My take on controlling controllable and hedging against the uncontrollable

With an inaugural season; you don't know what to expect. Top talent and question marks forming a team with a manager that has high hopes. Playing in the league myself years back, I knew some players were up to speed with top flight clubs. However, I did not expect the importance of team chemistry and stamina. This was the biggest toll on the team and only I am to be blamed. 2-7 after 9 games was horrible. Then the chemistry started click, with subs to spare, we didn't have to fight stamina either. Beating the soon-to-be champs 3-1. Then, finally gaining some momentum, we had stamina with us. 13 players only showing wasn't a for sure loss anymore. The last 5 games we went 4-1-0, 0 losses. A team clicking and beating the top of the table is a scary thought, for other clubs next year. However, that puts the spotlight on our top talent. Calls from the MLS, Championship (UK), and many more looking to acquire our players. LA Galaxy offered 1.5 Million for J.N. I shared a conversation with him, stating we maybe on the lower end of the salary compared to them, but we will always fight for you. He understood and we immediately got him a new contract. Leeds united were next to be knocking on the door, the lad in question, M.E. With a disappointing start due to too many nights out. We got our mate back on track without off-field distractions. Playing top football once again, the south hills legend was catching eyes. Offered a whopping 900K for his services, we once again had to deny. Moral of the story is SH FC is dedicated to bringing promotion and hardware back to where it belongs, THE HILLS. COYH!
